Luang Say Cruise 3 Days 2 Nights

Luang Say Cruise has three boats travelling along the Mekong river from Houei Say to Luang Prabang, or, from Luang Prabang to Houei Say. Both cruises stop over for one night in our Luang Say Lodge in Pakbeng.

Our boats are 34 metres long with a 420 HP engine and a steel hull for strength and safety. The boats have a capacity for 40 people in comfortable seats and benches. Each seat has an open air vista. We have coffee tables with magazines and booklets to read during your cruise.

Departure :   From 01 Nov 08 to 30 Apr 09 and 1-31 Oct 09, departs every Friday, Monday and Tuesday.
                      From 01 May 09 - 30 Sep 09, departs every Friday and Tuesday.

Day 1:  Luang Prabang – Kamu Logde

The Kamu boat departs from Luang Prabang pier at 09:00 hrs for a cruise up the Mekong River to Kamu Village. On the way to Pak Ou Village, at the mouth of the Nam Ou River a visit is organized to Tam Ting “Caves of a thousand Buddha’s”. Then boat to Kamu Village, arrival at Kamu lodge and check-in. Lunch at the Lodge’s Sala. In the afternoon you may choose to participate in the different activities. You will be rewarded with a very original Lao experience.

  • Rice planting and harvesting in surrounding rice fields
  • Gold panning (January to June) in the Mekong. Anything you find is yours!
  • Jungle walks to search for medicinal plants
  • Trekking through the forest to waterfalls (two hour hike and boat ride)
  • Traditional fishing techniques. You can sample your catch for dinner!
  • Local village visit
  • Archery contest

Day 2 : Kamu Lodge - PakBeng

Breakfast at lodge, after some time to relax and a visit to the village of Kamu, the Luangsay cruise pick-up you at 11h00. A delicious Buffet lunch is served on board and a brief stop is made at Ban Baw to observe the processing traditional rice alcohol. The boat will arrived at LuangSay Lodge before sunset for overnight stop. Dinner is served at terrace overlooking the Mekong River.

Day 3: PakBeng - Houei Say

Breakfast served at terrace around 6.30 a.m. In the morning visit the morning market (Optional) of Pak Beng where the nearby villagers and hill tribes buy and exchange their goods. Boat departs at 07:30 a.m. for her second part of trip. One stop is made to visit and admire the authentic rural life of hill tribe settlements. Lunch is again served on board. Reaching Houeisay before 17:00 hrs (you may proceed to Chiang Rai in the same day.)

Day 1: Houei Say – PakBeng ( L, D)

The LuangSay boat departs from Houeisay pier at 09:00 hrs for a cruise down the Mekong River to Pak Beng. One stop is made to visit and admire the authentic rural life of hill tribe settlements. A delicious Buffet lunch is served on board. The boat will arrive at LuangSay Lodge before sunset for overnight stop. Dinner is served at terrace overlooking the Mekong River.

Day 2: PakBeng –  Kamu Lodge ( B,L,D )

Breakfast served at terrace around 07:30 hrs. In the morning visit the morning market (Optional) of Pak Beng where the nearby villagers and hill tribes buy and exchange their goods. Luangsay Boat departs at 08:30 a.m. for her second part of trip; boat makes another stop at Ban Baw to observe the processing traditional rice alcohol. Lunch is again served on board; then the boat cruise to Kamu Village. The boat will arrived at 14h00 in Kamu Lodge for the check in- private bungalow accommodation blends in harmoniously with nature. Oaditions. n the afternoon you may choose to participate in the different activities. You will be rewarded with a very original Lao experience. and Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Luang Say Lodge

  • Built along the Mekong River, 1 km from Pakbeng Village half way between HoueiSay and Luang Prabang.
  • The construction is of tropical hardwood in the Lao traditional style and decoration 19 rooms + restaurant, bar and central terrace linked by gangways.
  • Each pavilion has a terrace offering a fabulous view over the Mekong river and Valley.Each pavilion has private toilet / shower room and hot water.( 1 bedroom and 2 bedrooms pavilions ).24h electricity supply, by 2 silent running generators
