Vietnam Airlines adding more flights | Vietnam Airlines is to add 48 more aircraft on Feb 5, mostly on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route, to meet increased demand after the Tet lunar New Year holidays, said a company official.
Deputy General Director Pham Ngoc Minh said the additional aircraft would raise the total flights operated by the national flag carrier that day to 212.
“The terminal is usually able to deal with four to five flights at a time. So it may take passengers longer time to complete procedures due to the sharp rise of flights that day,” said Le Ngoc Long, head of Vietnam Airlines’ flight operating center.
He added the peak time would be between 11am and 2 pm and between 5pm and 8 pm on Sunday.
Long advised departing passengers should arrive in the airport one to two hours before the departure time to complete procedures.
Vietnam Airlines reported in January alone it carried more than 580,000 passengers, including 260,000 foreigners, as well as over 8,000 tons of cargo.
At peak time during Tet (from Jan. 25-31), the national flag carrier conducted 1,100 flights, carrying nearly 140,000 passengers and 1,400 tons of cargo.
